Puri: Five youths were critically injured in a brutal attack where they were reportedly chased and hacked by miscreants. The attack occurred last night in Kanas market area of Puri district.
The victims have been identified as Sashank Pradhan, Rupak Pradhan, Ganesh Pradhan, Balaram Jena and Balia Pradhan. They have been shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and are currently under treatment.
As per reports, the victims were eyewitness to a murder that took place in the year 2015. It has been alleged that the murder accused is out on bail and wanted to make sure that the five youths did not give their statements.
Last night, yet-to-be-identified miscreants reportedly threw stones at a quarantine centre in Kanas market. And then the five youths were chased down and attacked with a sharp weapon.
Upon intimation, police arrived on the scene and first sent the youths to Kanas Community Health Centre (CHC). As their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to Capital Hospital.
A probe has been initiated by the Kanas police.
