Bhubaneswar: As many as 573 lives including security personnel have been lost to Naxal violence in the last 22 years in the State while 507 sustained injuries.
According to information shared by Minister of State (MoS) for Home Tusharkanti Behera in reply to a question by BJD Member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik in the Odisha Assembly, a total of 231 security personnel and 342 civilians have been killed in Naxal violence in the State from 2000 to 2021.
Similarly, a total of 331 security personnel and 176 civilians have been injured in Naxal violence in the State from 2000 to 2021.
Behera informed that as per the Central government’s notification onf Security Related Expenditure Scheme of 2000, as many as five revenue districts Naxal affected and later it increased to 21 revenue districts.
In the meanwhile, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Deogarh, Nayagarh, and Sambalpur have been declared as Naxal free and excluded from the Security Related Expenditure Scheme, he added.
