Bhubaneswar: Odisha has achieved a cumulative 283.08 megawatt (MW) of distributed renewable energy generation capacity as of February 2026, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo informed the state assembly on Wednesday.
In a written reply to a question by Congress leader and Bhawanipatna MLA Sagar Charan Das, Singh Deo said the capacity has been installed across households, government offices, commercial and industrial establishments, hospitals, and other institutions. He described this as a significant step towards decentralised clean energy deployment in the State.
The Minister further highlighted the Odisha government’s initiatives to encourage Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt clean energy. Under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022, MSMEs are offered attractive incentives for consuming energy generated from projects established within the State. The policy has enabled these enterprises to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources while lowering overall energy costs.
