Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance Directorate sleuths today arrested an In-Charge Principal of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya on charges of demanding and accepting bribe money.
The accused Sujan Kumar Sahu In-charge Principal of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Badi in Khariar tahasil of Nuapada district was caught red-handed today by Vigilance officials of Koraput Division inside his office while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a complainant to update the latter’s service book and sanction of annual increment in his favour, said an official press release.
Based on the complaint, Vigilance officials had laid a trap in which Sahu was caught today.
The release stated that the bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sahu and seized in presence of witnesses.
Both hands wash as well as shirt pocket wash of Sahu gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him, it added.
The anti-corruption wing has also conducted simultaneous searches at the residential rented house and office room of Sahu at Khariar and his house at native village Lachha Bandha in Angul district, the release said.
Sahu has been arrested and a case under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against him and is under investigation, it added.
