Bhubaneswar: In a bid to make agricultural schemes more farmer-centric and effective, the Odisha Government has directed senior officials of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department to conduct regular field visits across districts and blocks.
Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee issued a notification on Tuesday mandating officers—including the Director, Additional Directors, Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, and scheme officers—to personally review the progress of government programmes at the grassroots level.
The initiative aims to strengthen coordination between farmers and officials, address challenges faced in implementation, and ensure that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. Officials will interact directly with farmers, frontline workers, and local stakeholders to assess the real situation on the ground.
As per the instructions, every officer must submit a brief report of their visit within a week to the Principal Secretary. Additionally, all Heads of Directorates have been asked to prepare a monthly tour calendar, covering diverse districts with special focus on aspirational blocks and vulnerable areas.
The Agriculture Department emphasized that this exercise is an important step in enhancing accountability and ensuring that the government’s agricultural initiatives remain truly people-oriented and farmer-focused.
