Bhubaneswar: In the wake of Cyclone Dana’s devastating impact on Odisha, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment has cancelled official holidays on October 26 and 27 to prioritize post-cyclone assessment of damaged crops.
All officers in the affected districts and Bhubaneswar have been directed to remain on high alert and not leave their official headquarters during these two days, a notification issued by the department stated. Their prompt response is crucial in addressing the crisis, and any deviation from this directive will be taken seriously, it added.
Cyclone Dana made landfall in north Odisha on October 25 affecting around 10 districts of the State. The India Meteorological Department reported that the cyclone took around eight and a half hours to enter the landmass, with wind speeds of up to 110 kmph.
