**Dhenkanal:** In an unfortunate incident, an ailing elephant calf died in an elephant rescue center in Dhenkanal’s Kapilas area here today morning.
Reportedly, the 10-month-old elephant calf was rescued from Angul district’s Chhendipada area and had been undergoing treatment at the center since May 14.
According to sources, the jumbo was fine last night but suddenly showed symptoms of illness this morning. A veterinarian attended to it, but in vain.
Dhenkanal DFO Sudarshan Patra informed that a scientific team from OUAT has reached the spot for post-mortem to ascertain the exact reason behind the jumbo’s death.
