Cuttack: The Odisha government has announced one-day paid menstrual leave for all women employees of the state government and private sector. Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida made the announcement speaking to the media on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day in Cuttack on Thursday.
Women employees of the state government and private sector can avail of the leave on the first or second day of their menstrual cycle.
Parida said that the state government will soon announce a Menstrual Health Policy. She said that the benevolent decision has been taken within the first 100 days of the Women and Child Development Department of the BJP-led Odisha government.
