Odisha: ASHA Worker Dies Of Snakebite In Nuapada

Bhubaneswar:  While an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker has died of snakebite in Nuapada district, a youth is undergoing treatment for the same at the district headquarters hospital.

As per reports, ASHA worker Santilata Majhi of Patel Pada of Gorla village under Sinapalli block was bitten by a venomous snake while she was sleeping in her home on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Santilata’s family members rushed her to Mission Hospital at Khariar in a critical condition. However, she breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

In another incident, one Dinesh Sahoo, a 19-year-old youth of Salebhata village under Nuapada Notified Area Council (NAC) limits was bitten by a venomous snake on Friday night.
As per reports, Dinesh family had first taken him to the district headquarters hospital at Nuapada, however, as his condition deteriorated they brought him back to their home and had called a witch doctor to treat him.

Somehow, Nuapada Town police came to know of the development, ASI BS Panda rushed to the village and shifted Dinesh to the district headquarters hospital.
After undergoing treatment at the hospital, Dinesh’s condition is stated to be stable.
