Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 4 pm on Saturday after the proceedings were disrupted due to heavy pandemonium created by BJP members in the well of the House.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the members of the Opposition bench stormed into the well and protested against the suspension of their two MLAs- Mukesh Mahaling and Mohan Majhi. They demanded immediate revocation of MLAs’ suspension.
The BJP legislators also vehemently protested the Speaker’s denial of permission to the Leader of Opposition to speak in the House. They also alleged that the Leader of the Opposition was disrespected on the floor of the House.
As the noise scene continued despite repeated appeals, Speaker Pramila Mallik adjourned the House till 4pm.
Notably, Opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi and his Assembly colleague Mukesh Mahaling were suspended on Thursday from the House for the entire session for disrespecting the Speaker. They had allegedly thrown pulses at the Speaker while protesting in the well on Thursday.
