**Bhubaneswar: ** Pandemonium persisted even for the fourth consecutive day of the ongoing Budget Session of Odisha Assembly due to uproarious scene created by opposition Congress and BJP members over the nagging issues of farmers and youth unemployment.
Unable to run the proceedings, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat had to initially adjourn the House till 11.30 am and later till 3 pm.
Soon after the House re-assembled at 3 pm, both Congress and BJP members created again noisy scene for which the Speaker was compelled to further adjourn the House till 5.30 pm.
On the other hand, Odisha Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera is going to present the State’s Interim Budget in the House today in the afternoon hours.
In his media reactions, senior Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said, “Both the BJD and BJP have fully failed in solving the problems pertaining to the farmers and youth unemployment. Today the farmers have been rendered helpless and running from pillar to post. Despite the unanimous resolution taken by all the parties for Rs 2,930 MSP for paddy per quintal, both the Centre and State Government are yet to implement it. Due to this, the desperate farmer is committing suicide today.”
“Hence, we demand that the farmer should be given Rs 2,930 MSP and farm loan should also be waived off. In addition, the educated unemployed youth mass should be given employment opportunities by the State Government or else the youths should be entitled to Rs 3,500 unemployment allowance. This is the stand of our Congress party and we’ll stall the Assembly till the demands are fulfilled,” the senior Congress legislator threatened.
BJP MLA Pradeep Purohit said, “The youth mass of Odisha are deprived of employment scopes. Thus, the people of Odisha are going out of the State as migrant labourers. This issue was raised today in the House by BJP. Also our party has raised earlier the issues of the farmers and will continue in future. BJP is with the farmers and has raised the issue in the Assembly. In future also it will be raised in the Assembly.”
On the contrary, BJD MLA Dibya Shankar Mishra countered, “BJP and Congress have joined hands to stall the House proceedings. It’s extremely unfortunate for Odisha. They have moved adjournment motion on the issues and could discuss in the House. They are least interested in the discussion. Their only effort is stall the House and push Odisha to the back burner. These two national parties have never tried for the development of Odisha.”
