Bhubaneswar: The Monsoon Session of the Odisha Assembly will commence on September 22, while the House will elect the new Speaker on September 21, official sources informed on Thursday.
It is worth mentioning here that the post of the Speaker has been lying vacant since Bikram Keshari Arukha resigned from the post on May 12 this year. On May 23, Arukha was included in the state Cabinet and allocated the Finance portfolio.
The last date for filing nominations for the Speaker’s post is September 18.
The Monsoon Session of the Odisha Assembly will continue till October 4 and the government will table a supplementary budget in the House on October 3.
