Odisha Assembly Suspends Congress MLAs Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Ramesh Jena For 7 Days

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy suspended two more Congress MLAs, Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Ramesh Chandra Jena, for seven days due to unruly behaviour. This move comes after the duo staged a protest near the Speaker’s podium, beating gongs to highlight concerns over women’s safety in the state.

It is pertinent to mention that yesterday, 12 Congress MLAs were suspended for seven days on similar grounds, leaving the party without representation in the House.

With Bahinipati and Jena’s suspension, all 14 Congress MLAs are now barred from attending the Assembly for seven days.

The Congress party has been protesting the rise in crimes against women in Odisha, demanding the formation of a House committee to address the issue.
