Bhubaneswar: The proceedings of the Odisha Assembly during the upcoming Monsoon Session will be conducted as per the Covid-19 guidelines followed in the lower and upper houses of the Parliament, informed Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro here today.
Patro said that special seating arrangements with a gap of 4 to 5 ft between each member will be made for the 145 legislators.
Special seating arrangements for the members is being made for the members at the visitors’ gallery and special see-through shields will be fixed in front of their seats, he added.
The Speaker said that the Assembly will conduct all businesses like zero hour, adjournment motion and calling attention motion except question hour.
Any senior member of House who do not want to come to Bhubaneswar to attend the the session will be allowed to take part in the proceedings of the session through video conferencing either from their homes, or from the district Collector’s conference hall or at the conference hall of the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC).
Patro further said that he has convened an all-party meeting on September 25 to discuss on various aspects for the smooth conduct of the House amid the Covid-19 pandemic scare.
The Monsoon Session of the Odisha Assembly is scheduled to commence from September 29 and conclude on October 7.
This session will have eight business days spread over in nine days. The Assembly will remain closed on account of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 which is a national holiday. However, the Assembly will hold session on October 4 despite it being a Sunday.
Out of the eight business days of the session except for October 6 which has been kept for Private Members’ Business all are Official Business days.
