**Berhampur:** The newborn girl, who was allegedly stolen from MKCG Medical College and Hospital yesterday, was rescued by the cops from Konisi village in Golanthara area last night and was handed over to her parents.

The recsued baby girl is currently undergoing a medical examination in the hospital. Meanwhile, a woman has been held in the Baidyanathpur Police Station for questioning into the matter.

The cops informed that the accused is one Kuni Pradhan, of Titigaon village under Jarada police limits. She wanted to show her in-laws that she has a baby, so she left her house four days back in search of a newborn.

Reportedly, a woman identified as Jyoti, wife of Bhikari Nahak of Narayanpur village under Kabisuryanagar block of the district had delivered a baby girl in the hospital two days back. Yesterday, Kuni asked Jyoti’s mother, Gurubari, to administer vaccine to the newborn and asked her to collect the ticket. When the elderly woman went to bring the ticket, the accused woman fled with the baby girl.

After finding the baby missing, Gurubari along with Bhikari lodged a complaint with the police.

Following it, IIC of Baidyanathpur Police Station Jaya Krushna Patnaik along with IIC of Bada Bazaar Police Station Suresh Tripathy reached the hospital and had initiated a probe.

Later, ASP Shantanu Das also reached the hospital and questioned witnesses about the accused woman. It was revealed the accused Kuni was visiting various beds and inquiring about newborn children.
