Odisha-Based Thief Accused Of Looting Jewellery Store Owner In Bengaluru Arrested

**Bhadrak**: A thief was arrested by a joint team of Basudevpur and Bengaluru Police today from Nuagaon area in Bansada tehsil. Gold and diamond ornaments along with cash were also seized from his possession.

The arrested looter has been identified as Biswajit Mallick of Nuagaon village.

Mallick had faked his identity as Shankarshan Das and was working for an ornament store owner in Bengaluru. 15 days ago when Mallick found his owner absent from the house, he took advantage of the situation and looted the possessions.

After the loot, he escaped from Bengaluru and returned to his village.

Rs 1 lakh in cash, 2 diamond wrist watches, and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees was seized from the accused’s possessions.

Following a complaint filed with Bengaluru Police in connection with the loot, the cops swung into action and traced the accused by tracking his mobile phone. After tracking the location, Bengaluru cops teamed up with Basudevpur Police and nabbed the miscreant from his village.

The accused has been handed over to Bengaluru Police for interrogation.
