Bhubaneswar: Intense heat baked people of Odisha on Tuesday afternoon, as seven stations in the state recorded tempratures above 45 degrees. Talcher was sizzling at 42.5 degrees in the afternoon.
Today, IMD Bhubaneswar centre recorded day maximum at 39.5°C, with high humidity levels making conditions worse for the denizens.
According to weathermen, maximum temperatures are above normal by 3-4 degrees, which marked the return of severe heat wave across Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas post cyclone Fani.
The Met officials do not see any relief from the ongoing hot weather conditions across Odisha in the coming days as well. Maximum temperatures are likely to settle in the similar range from 40°C-42°C.
IMD Scientist, Dr Sashikant predicted rains and thundershowers in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and Sundergarh over the next 48 hours.
