Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under intense heatwave conditions on Sunday, with Titlagarh emerging as the hottest place in the state at 41.5°C, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Several interior districts recorded sweltering temperatures above 40°C, worsening daytime conditions and affecting normal life across multiple regions. Bhawanipatna and Bolangir both registered 41.0°C, followed by Jharsuguda at 40.7°C, Sambalpur at 40.1°C, Hirakud at 40.0°C, and Sonepur at 39.9°C.
The heatwave also impacted other parts of the state, with Sundargarh recording 38.6°C, Nayagarh 38.5°C, Rourkela 38.7°C, Chandbali 38.2°C, Talcher 38.2°C, and Malkangiri 38.2°C. Bhadrak recorded 38.0°C, Jajpur 37.8°C, Bhubaneswar 37.7°C, and Cuttack 37.4°C. Dhenkanal also registered 37.4°C.
Coastal regions, however, remained relatively cooler compared to interior Odisha. Balasore recorded 36.0°C, Puri 34.6°C, Gopalpur 33.4°C, and Paradip 32.2°C.
The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions amid the rising temperatures, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours, and limiting outdoor activities in the afternoon.
