Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has renovated and opened the BDA City Centre for the public from Thursday (November 14) onwards. The BDA City Centre was extremely popular among children and youths for its appealing rides and pleasing environment.
The park sustained major damages in cyclone Fani after which the BDA took over its renovation which was completed at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore. A majority of the rides here have been restored, said BDA Secretary, Rabindranath Mishra.
Today, as the park was opened for public after a long duration the entry fees were waived off. On the occasion of Children’s Day, people from all age groups enjoyed the rides at this park. “The footfall on an opening day was high and the BDA aims at transforming the City Centre into one of the most sought after parks in the country,” Mishra added.
The BDA will be fully managing the park on its own. As many as nine rides are ready for operation at the City Centre. However, on Thursday, three rides – caterpillar, merry-go-round and mini toy train were open for the children.
Sources said, the entry fees have been set at Rs 100 and the paid rides will be charged at Rs 20 each. Among the paid rides that have been made functional – a pirate ship, tilt-a-wheel, vertex, striking car, bull, moon racker, boating and water splash, have been quite popular.
