Bhubaneswar: An employee of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has succumbed to COVID-19, the Commissioner, BeMC has informed through a tweet. Head Assistant, BeMC Upendra Majhi, who was admitted to Tata Medica succumbed to COVID-19, the tweet added.
With a heavy heart, we inform that Mr Upendra majhi, Head Assistant, BeMC has succumbed to COVID 19, he was admitted in Tata medica. He was a gentle soul, who always carried a smile on his face. “He was a gentle soul, who always carried a smile on his face. His departure has left a vacuum, that cannot be filled,” the BeMC Commissioner said.
“His last rites were conducted with full dignity and honor he deserves, in presence of his work family. We pray that wherever he may be, he rests in peace,” the Commissioner said in another tweet.
On the other hand, the Municipal Commissioner announed that BeMC office will be closed to the public for 14 days. A tweet on his official Twitter handle read:
“Due to detection of COVID positive cases amongst the staff of BeMC, all staff except for those engaged in sanitation and covid duty have been directed to home quarantine themselves. Office will be closed to public for 14 days. For any urgent work at BeMC call 0680-2250290.”
