Odisha Best Indian State Under DDUGKY For 2nd Time In A Row, ITIs Among The Best In Country: CM Naveen

**Cuttack: ** Gracing the grand opening of ‘Odisha Skills 2018’ in the old State capital-cum-silver city, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik averred that the event would provide students and trainees across the State with a platform to showcase their talent and prove their merit on a bigger stage. He also expressed optimism that the event will help in attracting youth towards skill development.

Before declaring ‘Odisha Skills 2018’ open at a special function held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here in the millennium city, he began his keynote address saying, “The day is very significant for one and all in Odisha because it marks the birth anniversary of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das who was the epitome of Odisha’s self-esteem and dignity. Madhu Babu was also the first ever entrepreneur of Odisha. For Odisha’s pride and prestige as well as its name and fame in the industrial sector, Madhu Babu has made lots of sacrifices. On his birthday, I feel elated at joining the Odisha Skills Competition. On the auspicious occasion, I convey my rich tributes and humble homage to Madhu Babu.”

The Chief Minister said, “Odisha Skills 2018 is the first-of-its-kind State-level Skills Competition organized by the Government of Odisha. I am confident that such events will lead to more opportunities for the youth at the global level and will make skill aspirational for them. I am overwhelmed to see large participation from our young competitors from all across the State in 25 Skills across 6 sectors.”

“It is a matter of great pleasure that Odisha has been adjudged as the best State in the country under DDUGKY for the second time in a row. Odisha’s ITIs are also among the best in the country. I congratulate the Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Odisha Skill Development Authority and all those who are involved in Skilled-in-Odisha mission,” stated the CM.

He also stated, “I am happy to announce a cash prize of Rs I lakh for gold medalist, Rs 75,000 for silver medalist and Rs 50,000 for bronze medalist at the national level from our State. Our Mission for World Skills has to be Mission-1-2-3, that is 1. Gold, 2. Silver and 3. Bronze.”

Taking this opportunity to congratulate all the participants and organizers and also conveying his best wishes to all, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik exhorted, “Let Odisha’s Best be World’s Next.”

During the 2 day-long competiton at IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar on April 29 and 30 from 10 am to 8 pm, 200 participants will compete in 25 skills.

Prominent among others, the special occasion was also graced by Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Usha Devi and Odisha Skill Development Authority head Subroto Bagchi.
