Bhubaneswar: The six new police station announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today includes one at Bharatpur in the State Capital. This will be the 25th police station in Bhubaneswar urban police district including 2 traffic, one Mahila, and one Special Energy police stations in the Capital City.
Bharatpur police station will be carved out of Khandagiri police’ jurisdiction. The State Government has sanctioned 6 sub-inspectors (SI), 3 assistant SIs and 21 constables for the new police station in Bhubaneswar.
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said, it was a long standing demand of the locals of the region for setting up a police station in Bharatpur. “Area and population (three lakh) wise Khandagiri had grown. Creation of the new police station will help us offer better policing and crime control,” he said.
Today, the Chief Minister also approved rationalisation of 905 posts in Odisha police. By this move, the manpower at 220 police stations and six outposts will be strengthened.
In Bhubaneswar, apart from the newly created Bharatpur police station, the strength of Balipatna, Chandaka, Nayapali, Chandrasekhapur, Airfield, Balianta, Mancheswar, Lingaraj, Jatni, Balianta police stations and Banamalipur outpost has been increased.
“Similarly, in Cuttack, the manpower of Jagatpur, Chauliaganj, Choudwar, Badambadi, Baranga and Sadar police stations has been increased. We thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for this and are hopeful that police will serve the public much better,” Sarangi added.
