**Cuttack:** The BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack, Prabhat Biswal, was discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Saturday. Biswal will leave for New Delhi for further treatment.
Speaking to the media, an ailing Biswal said, “I have returned home after 9 months. I was unable to see my parents as I was in the hospital. I will meet my family members before going to New Delhi for further treatment.”
Reacting over being selected for the Pandit Nilakantha Samman (Best MLA award), Biswal said,” I have always worked with dedication. I came to know about the award today and feeling happy about it.”
Notably, the Choudwar-Cuttack legislator was arrested by the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on September 19, 2017 from his Cuttack residence for his alleged complicity in the Seashore Group chit fund scam. His bail plea was rejected by the Special CBI Court, Bhubaneswar as well as the District Judge and Sessions Court after which he remained in the judicial custody.
However, due to his health problems then, instead of being sent to Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar, he was admitted at the Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital. He had remained there since then on health grounds.
Eventually, he was granted conditional bail on June 26 by the Orissa High Court against cash security of Rs 20 lakh and two solvent securities of Rs 5,000 each.
