Balasore: The president of BJP Yuva Morcha of Odisha unit and 20 of his associates were injured critically in attack by miscreants at Karanjamal under Chandabali Assembly constituency in Bhadrak, which will go to poll on June 1.
Yuva Morcha president Abhilash Panda and his team members were attacked with the sharp weapons at Khapuria chhak near Karanjamal in the district.
Panda and his other team members suffered grievous injuries on head. Panda said that their vehicle was also attacked with stone and sticks.
The injured were shifted to Basudevpur Community Health Centre.
BJP State president has condemned the incident and demanded strict action against those involved in the attack.
“BJP Yuva Morcha team led by morcha president Abhilash Panda came to Chandabali to supervise the election affair of the party. Panda and his team members were attacked murderously with sharp weapons. They have been shifted to hospital in a critical condition. Panda suffered grievous injuries on head. We condemned such attack and demanded the district administration and election commission to ensure a free and fair election in the constituency,” Samal said at a press meet.
Samal also demanded strict action against the accused involved in the violence.
Meanwhile, BJP workers have lodged complaint with police in this regard.
Police forces have been deployed in the village as tension erupted following the incident.
