Odisha: BMC-BDA Carry Out Demolition Drive In Jaydev Vihar

**Bhubaneswar:** A joint team of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corportaion (BMC) today carried out a demolition drive in a residential locality of Jaydev Vihar.

The team demolished a structure which was built on Drainage Channel No 4. Total seven families were staying there on the edge of the channel.

The two-storeyed house was razed with earth movers deployed by the civic bodies. The drive witnessed commotion and chaos by the residents which was controlled by the police personnel stationed on the spot.

The squad has also started demolition on a government plot at Naka Gate. Out of four asbestos-roofed illegal dwellings in the area, one has been levelled so far. The drive will continue, a BMC official said.

The demolition drive was followed by clearance of construction and demolition (C&D) waste from the drains in the locality.

After carrying out major demolition drives at ISKCON temple, Nayapalli Haza, Nayapalli Behera Sahi, Bhoi Sahi and Science Park slum in the recent past, the joint team has set a target to clear illegal encroachment near Jaydeev Vihar Square.

Two separate teams from the BDA-BMC squad inspected the Jharana Slum near Sishu Bhavan and warned the encroacher to evict the illegally occupied land. In this area the drains have been encroached.
