Bhubaneswar: Even as Odisha continues to reel under severe heat wave, 29 locations across the state recorded day temperatures of 40°C and above while the temperature in 39 locations was above 30°C on Sunday.
Sambalpur was the hottest place in Odisha today recording 46°C, while Sonepur was a close second at 45.8°C.
The day temperature recorded in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 41.6°C and 40.2°C.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted harsher weather on Monday. The weather office said severe heat wave condition is likely to prevail in at least 10 districts of Odisha on June 19.
As per the weather office’s prediction, severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Angul, and Deogarh on Monday. The IMD has issued an orange alert for these districts.
