Bhubaneswar: With a day left for cyclone Dana to make landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra regions, Leader of Opposition (LoP) and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged Odisha people to remain prepared and cooperate with the administration to combat the cyclonic storm.
Patnaik through a video message assured Odisha residents stating that despite concerns about the impending cyclone past experiences have shown the state’s ability to effectively tackle such disasters.
He also emphasized Odisha’s robust disaster management policy, which has ensured successful mitigation of previous cyclones. He also urged people to cooperate with the administration to combat the cyclonic storm.
Patnaik, in a video message, said, “Do not be frightened by the cyclone but remain vigilant. Life is precious, so stay safe. Extend full cooperation to the administration in combating the cyclone. I urge all elected representatives to stand with the people during this difficult time and provide assistance.”
He further said, “I firmly believe that united, we will effectively counter the cyclone, just as we have in the past. Jai Jagannath.”
As the state braces for the storm, Patnaik’s message serves as a reminder of Odisha’s proven track record in handling natural disasters. Under his leadership, the state effectively managed cyclones like Phailin in 2013 and Fani in 2019, earning recognition from the United Nations for its robust disaster management policies.
