Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has developed over the central parts of the Malacca Strait, which will likely lead to the formation of a low-pressure area on Saturday, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD prediction, the low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22, which is likely to move west-northwest and intensify into a depression by November 24. This system is expected to bring rainfall to Odisha over the next seven days, with the coastal regions likely to receive the most significant impact.
Going by the prediction made by the regional weather office, the depression is expected to move west-northwest and intensify further over the southwest Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours. Odisha is likely to experience rainfall from November 27 due to its impact.
However, the weather office has not yet predicted whether the system will intensify into a cyclonic storm.
