Odisha: Brown Sugar Seized In Twin City, 3 Including 1 Woman Arrested

**Cuttack/ Bhubaneswar:** Three drug peddlers including a woman were arrested today morning by the excise sleuths in twin cities Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

In the capital city, a woman was arrested from Haladipadia area of Laxmisagar and 200 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 20 lakh was seized from her possession.

IIC of Excise, Baijayanti Panda said, “The arrested woman has been identified as Maena Routray. She was the kingpin of the area. We had been keeping a close watch on her for the last few days.”

Meanhwhile, the Flying Squad officials raided several spaces in Khordha’s Nuagoan area and Cuttack’s Badambadi area. 100 grams of brown sugar, 800 grams of ganja and 150 liters of illegal liquor was seized from both the places.

Flying squad officials also arrested two persons named Avi Sahoo and Santosh Pandaba. A scooty along with Rs 50,000 cash was recovered from their possession.

Sarat Bhanja, IIC of Flying Squad, Cuttack said, “We conducted these raids on the orders of the Excise Commissioner. Cases against them have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and they will be forwarded to the court soon.”
