Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased in the bus accident at Digapahandi area in Odisha’s Ganjam district. The Prime Minister also announced that a sum of Rs 50,000 will be provided to each injured victim.
“I am deeply saddened by the fatal bus accident in Odisha’s Ganjam district. Condolences to the family of the deceased. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Rs 50,000 will be provided to the injured,” he tweeted.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and free medical treatment for the injured victims.
It is worth mentioning here that at least 12 persons of a marriage party were killed and several others injured when a private bus and an OSRTC bus collided head-on near Digapahandi on the Berhampur-Taptapani road in Ganjam district, in the wee hours of Monday.
