Bhubaneswar: Provision of safe drinking water to people residing in the rural areas being among the priority areas of the Odisha government, the State Cabinet today approved a proposal for execution of two mega piped water supply projects to benefit the people of Sambalpur and Deogarh districts at a cost of Rs 369.12 crore.
Around 1,68,418 people of 481 villages under 50 gram panchayats of Kuchinda, Jamankira and Rengali blocks of Sambalpur district and Tileibani block of Deogarh district will be provided with safe drinking water on the execution of the projects.
The Cabinet has approved a tender of Rs 369,11,79,850 of Krishna Corporation Pvt Ltd in a joint venture with UMSL Ltd Ahmedabad for the execution of the projects.
While the projects are being funded out of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) funding, are targeted for completion within 24 months.
