Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to enhance healthcare services in the state, the State Cabinet has approved the proposal for creation of the Odisha Ophthalmic Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2025.
The decision aims to provide better healthcare services to the public and meet the Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS). Currently, 197 Ophthalmic Assistants are working in various healthcare facilities across the state. With this approval, 141 additional base-level posts and 200 promotional posts will be created, resulting in a total of 338 base-level posts and 538 posts in the Odisha Ophthalmic Service Cadre.
The creation of the Odisha Ophthalmic Service Cadre is expected to provide job security and career advancement opportunities to eligible Ophthalmic Assistants. Moreover, it will facilitate new recruitment of Ophthalmic Officers, ultimately benefiting the public by improving eye care services.
