Odisha Cabinet Approves Four Mega Drinking Water Projects

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Wednesday granted approval to four mega major drinking water projects which will benefit the people of Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati and Cuttack districts, said Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Minister, Pratap Jena.

These four projects have been estimated at Rs 800.27 crore and will provide drinking water to 6.07 lakh additional population (as per 2011 Census).

“The projects will cover 911 villages in Kalimela and Malkangiri Blocks in Malkangir, Boipariguda Block in Koraput, Saraskana and GB Nagar Blocks in Mayurbhanj, Bhogarai Block in Balasore, Kasinagar and Gumma Blocks in Gajapati and Mahanga Block in Cuttack districts,” Jena added.

The four mega projects are expected to cover the projected population of 10.40 lakh in 2052.
