Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to make Odisha a leading State in the field of international flight operations, the State Cabinet in its meeting today approved the bid of M/s Indigo for the operation of direct flights to Dubai, Singapore & Bangkok from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPI), Bhubaneswar.
According to an official press release, the State government had floated a request for proposal (RFP) for the selection of a suitable airline operator. M/s Indigo had applied for its operation through these routes.
As a result, 186 seater flight will be operated from BPI Airport, Bhubaneswar and the expenditure will be borne by State Government towards this flight operation.
ln lieu, the revenue generated through ticketing will be retained by State Government.
The connection to Dubai will open up the entire western side of the world and Singapore and Bangkok will open up the entire eastern side.
This will make travel for the people of Odisha more friendly and also economical. This will also help Prabasi Odias to come to their State in an easier manner.
The State Cabinet in its meeting today also gave its stamp of approval to 16 other important proposals.
