Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved a five-year budget provision of Rs 847.14 crore for the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY) to encourage agri-entrepreneurs and modernize the agriculture and allied sectors in the state.
The funding will be utilized to provide subsidies to entrepreneurs, promoting the establishment of Commercial Agri-Enterprises, income generation, and employment opportunities.
Initially introduced in June 2018 and revised in December 2020 and January 2024, MKUY has been instrumental in fostering growth in agriculture and its allied industries.
The revised scheme aims to fully exploit Odisha’s potential in these sectors, driving rapid modernization and creating sustainable income avenues for farmers.
The provision of subsidies under the scheme is expected to ease the financial burden on agri-entrepreneurs, enhance employment generation, and significantly contribute to the state’s economy. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the agriculture sector and empowering farmers.
