Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, the Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved an amendment to the Odisha Medical Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Dental Surgeon) Rules, 2022.
According to an official press release, this amendment paves the way for the requisition for recruitment of more than 100 Dental Surgeons to be sent to the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
The amendments include key changes to facilitate a smoother recruitment process. A proviso has been added to sub-rule (10) of rule 6, specifying that any matter related to direct recruitment not covered by the rules will be guided by the Rules of Procedure laid down by the Commission.
For critical unspecified matters, the Commission, in consultation with the Department, will take appropriate decisions to ensure the smooth functioning of examinations, and such decisions will be final unless overridden by future amendments or decisions.
Additionally, the proviso to clause (e) of sub-rule (1) of rule 7 has been omitted. Previously, this clause required candidates to possess a valid registration certificate under the “Dentist Act, 1948” to be eligible for direct recruitment.
With these amendments in place, the government is set to expedite the recruitment process, enhancing the availability of Dental Surgeons to meet the growing demand for dental healthcare services in the state.
