Odisha Cabinet Okays Tender For Construction Of Baunsuni-Biramaharajpur Bridge Over Mahanadi

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to construct a second bridge over river Mahanadi connecting Baunsuni of Boudh district to Biramaharajpur of Sonepur under State Plan during 2023-24.

The State Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal in this regard and okayed the tender to the lowest EPC Bid of RKD Construction Pvt. Ltd., Super Class Contractor amounting to Rs.105,70,99,350 for execution of the work.

The project is targeted for completion within three years.

The project will benefit the people residing on both sides of the river by providing direct connectivity and economic opportunity.

In another decision, the Cabinet approved the EKAMRA (Ekamra Kshetra Amenities and Monument Revival Action) scheme, which was launched to revive and preserve the heritage value and grandeur of Lord Lingaraj Temple and its surroundings.

The scheme was approved with a cost outlay of Rs. 656.73 Crore and the scheme will be implemented from 2020-21 to 2024-25.

The scheme aimed to enhance the living heritage, continuous traditions and a complete timeline of Kalinga Architectural Development, to protect and strengthen the linkages between the area’s natural and built heritage assets near the shrines.

Similarly, SAMALEI (Samaleswari Temple Area Management and Local Economic Initiatives) scheme, which was launched on February 17, 2021, also got the Cabinet nod.

The scheme was approved at a cost outlay of Rs.388.26 Crore. It will be implemented between 2021-22 and -2024-25.

The SAMALEI project was launched with an objective to celebrate the grandeur of Maa Samaleswari temple, to enhance the experience of the devotees, to boost tourism-based economy of Sambalpur and Odisha, to develop other projects around temple -for facilitating economic opportunities for locals.
