Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer Sarah Sharma has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the CBI on Friday, according to a Union personnel ministry order.

Sharma is a 2010-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Odisha cadre.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has intimated Odisha’s Chief Secretary about approving her central deputation.

“It is therefore, requested that Sarah Sharma may be relieved immediately to enable her to take up the new assignment at the Centre,” read the letter issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Odisha Government on March 12.

It may be mentioned that Sarah Sharma was among the three officers of Odisha police, who had joined the CBI probe into the ethnic violence in Manipur.
