Cuttack: Christmas is the most popular and sacred festival of the Christians. On this day, Christians as well as people from other religious beliefs celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with pomp and joy.
As in other parts of Odisha, followers of Christ are celebrating the Lord’s birthday in the millennium city of Cuttack. Irrespective of caste or religion, people are celebrating this big day in the 1000-year-old historic city of Cuttack with joy and reverence. On the occasion of the big day, various churches and synagogues in the city have been decorated with garlands of lights. At the same time, the city is bustling.
After attending the mid-night mass on Sunday, people wished and congratulated one another on the big day. Cakes and gifts are being exchanged amongst people.
The largest mid-night mass was held at the Catholic Church in Canton Road. In this prayer meeting, the parish of the Catholic Church, Prabodh Pradhan, congratulated everyone on the big day, read some parts from the Bible and wished everyone happiness and peace.
The birthday of Lord Jesus is celebrated in traditional manner at this Catholic Church. Christmas Carols were sung and musical shows were performed in different languages. Schools and colleges have declared holidays on the occasion.
