Cuttack/Bhubaneswar/Balasore/Dhenkanal: The propitious moments of holy Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Odisha today.
Muslim brethren across the State offered special mass prayers in ‘Idgah’ (open grounds) and mosques, marking the culmination of the 30 days of rigorous fasting and austerity. After offering ‘Namaaz’, they embraced each other rendering greetings of ‘Eid Mubarak’.
On this auspicious occasion, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik greeted the people tweeting, “Warm greetings for all on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. May the spirit of Eid bring happiness and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and amity in the society.”
In the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Muslims dressed in new clothes thronged the sacred venues since morning for the ‘Namaaz-e-Eid’.
Similarly, the occasion was celebrated in Balasore district and Dhenkanal and also all other places across Odisha.
In his media reactions on the auspicious occasion, Imam of Cuttack city-based Kadam-E-Rasool Badi Maszid Hafiz Bhukari Maulana Sayeed Sadruddin said, “It is Eid today, a day of happiness and pleasure bestowed on us by Allah Tallah. The day is most significant for the Muslims.”
He elucidated, “All the Muslims celebrate it with religious fervour by putting on new clothes. Also have good delicacies. Prior to that, they all pray and pay obeisance to Allah in a bid to express their heartfelt gratitude through Namaaz. Hence, all the denizens from the Muslim community of Cuttack city are here at Kadam-E-Rassol today for the pious purpose. Also the Hindu brethren share their greetings and enjoy together.”
“On this holy day, the wealthy Muslims also open hands for the poor and needy in shape of Zakat al-Fitr (charity). It’s Allah’s command. Allah Tallah blesses the devout and austere Muslims,” Maulana Saheeb added.
Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammed Moquim said, “Behold Cuttack city is reverberating with the religious celebration. All are celebrating Id festival today not only in Cuttack but also across Odisha and India. This city is unique for its universal brotherhood as all become one while celebrating own religious festivals.”
“On this occasion, I would like to urge my dear denizens of Cuttack city to keep on maintaining this social harmony and universal brotherhood so that it sends a healthy message to our posterity,” the lawmaker appealed.
Eid was also celebrated in Balasore’s Soro where mass ‘Namaaz’ was offered to Allah Tallah at the ‘Idgah Padia’ (mass prayer ground).
In his reactions, Mirza Touhid Baig said, “On this auspicious occasion, I convey all my good wishes of Id Mubarak. Today we pray for all so that they live peacefully and have good food to eat. Today’s special dish is ‘laccha’. We all relish community feast and enjoy together with our friends and kinsmen.”
“Watch we have displayed a banner written ‘On the Occasion of Id and Raja’. This exhibits social harmony and universal brotherhood. Today we will be planting 50 saplings as we are running short of oxygen. This will be for protecting our environment and climate. Also we are collecting donation for the relief fund as it would help in the post-Fani restoration and rebuild,” Baig mentioned.
