Odisha Chief Secretary AP Padhi Is Next State Election Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s incumbent Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has been appointed as the next State Election Commissioner (SEC).

As per official sources, Padhi’s name, recommended by the State Government, has been accorded seal of approval by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal.

Speaking to media, Padhi said, “In accordance with the order of Hon’ble Governor, the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department has today publicized notification of my appointment as the State Election Commissioner.”

“I have applied for my VRS before the Hon’ble Chief Minister. In it I have urged that our mandatory notice period of 90 days to be waived and accord permission to me to retire on August 19. On that day, I’ll assume office as State Election Commissioner,” he informed.

Aditya Prasad Padhi is an Odisha cadre 1983 batch IAS officer and he has been the Chief Secretary since November 2015.

While he was to retire from the Government service in February next year, he opted for voluntray retirment scheme (VRS).
