**Bhubaneswar:** The Controller of Examinations of CHSE (Council of Higher Secondary Education) yesterday directed the principals, headmasters, headmistresses of all centres and sub-centres of CHSE to install CCTV cameras in the examination halls and other strategic points ‘to watch the movement/involvement of outsiders’.
The letter mentions, “As per proceedings of the meeting held on 04.09.2018 under the Chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to Govt., School & Mass Education Department, you are directed to install vandal proof CCTV camera in all the examination Halls, the Office Room where the sealed question packets are opened and answer scripts are sealed for dispatch, the common entrance where the gate checking of the examinees are being done, and other Important places for checking irregularities during the examinations conducted by CHSE.”
Further directives includes, “The functioning of CCTVs must be ensured by the end of December, 2018 by furnishing a certificate in this regard by the concerned principals, failing which necessary steps may be taken for cancellation of Centres. The Government will be reported for appropriate action against the defaulting principals of the colleges and higher secondary schools.”
Instructions regarding reputed brands of 2 mega pixel CCTVs with adequate storage capacity for one month and power back-up for the examination hours are also mentioned in the letter.
Adequate safety measures like metal netting of the cameras, conceal wiring or wiring at high altitude, arrangements of watch and wards, locking of the rooms in non-working hours to be ensured to serve the purpose, has also been instructed to the stakeholders.
