Koraput: The Government of India has invited Harshita Priyadarshini, a Class VII girl from Odisha, to participate in the Global Symposium on Farmers’ Rights. President Draupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate this programme as the chief guest. Representatives of 125 countries across the globe will participate in the event.
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India is organising the GSFR 2023. ITPGRFA, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) through the PPVFR mandate organised by the International Agreement Rome, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare working on biodiversity conservation will attend the programme from September 12 to 15, 2023 at the ICAR Convention Centre in New Delhi.
Harshita Priyadarshini, a Class VII student of Prakash School in Karmi Jeypore, left for New Delhi on September 9 to exhibit 150 types of paddy seeds and 75 types of mandia seeds at the GSFR. Considering its unique status, the conference is expected to be attended by more than 500 delegates from around the world, including around 150 foreign delegates and 170 farmers from India.
Harshita Priyadarshini, daughter of Har Mohanty of Beipariguda in Odisha’s Koraput district, has been invited by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to participate in this mega event.
Narendra Singh Tomar, guest of honour and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, will preside over the function. Kent Nnadozi, Secretary of ITPGRAFA Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Rome, will deliver the keynote address. Harshita Priyadarshini will deliver a speech on organic farming and farmers’ safety at the event.
