Cuttack: The Summative Assessment (SA)-1 examination of Class-X students conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha will begin tomorrow (November 23).
“We will be conducting the first edition of the High School Certificate Exam and Madhyama Exam or SA-1 (Summative Assessment-1) from tomorrow till November 30,” informed Vice-President of BSE, Odisha Nihar Ranjan Mohanty speaking to reporters here today.
The second edition of the High School Certificate Exam and Madhyama Exam will be known as Summative Assessment-2 or SA-2, Mohanty added.
“Both of these exams are of equal importance as these will be added for the awarding of High School and Madhyama Certificates. Both SA-1 and SA-2 carry equal weightage i.e 40 per cent weightage. So it has to be taken seriously. Final results will be published on the basis of 40 per cent weightage each for SA-1 and SA-2 and 20 per cent weightage for internal assessment,” explained Mohanty.
He further informed that this time the examinees will be writing their papers in examination centres other than their own institutions (self-centres).
“This time there is no self-centre. Candidates will go to other schools to appear for their exam papers. Squads have been formed and Observers have been appointed to prevent malpractice during the exams,” Mohanty said.
This year over 5.4 lakh candidates are appearing in the SA-1 exam, informed Ramashish Hazra, President, BSE, Odisha.
Candidates have been barred from taking anything other than pen and admit card inside the examination centres.
Hazra said that entry of mobile phones inside examination centres has been strictly banned.
The exam will be conducted at 3029 examination centres.
