Bargarh: The western Odisha district of Bargarh which has earned the euphemism of being the unofficial cancer capital of the State will soon have a cancer hospital.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his one-day visit to the district announced that a cancer hospital will be soon established in Bargarh district.
The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing a meeting at Tukurla under Bhatli block in the district.
Patnaik during his one day visit to the district inaugurated seven projects worth Rs 70 crore and laid foundation stones for 22 projects worth Rs 60 crore.
He also inaugurated the new six storey building of the district headquarters hospital having a bed capacity of 300 built at a cost of Rs 45 crore.
Among the other significant projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister is a high-level bridge at Bargarh, 150th branch of ICICI Bank at Bijepur and District Science Centre at Bargarh.
MP Prasanna Acharya, Labour and Employment Minister Sushant Singh, Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick, Minister of State, Science and Technology Ashok Panda, Attabira MLA Snehangini Chhuria, Bijepur MLA Rita Sahu, Padmapur MLA Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha, 5T secretary VK Pandian and District Planning Committee, chairman, Debesh Acharya were also present on the occasion.
