Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of five Odia labourers who lost their lives in a devastating explosion at Sigachi Industries Limited’s pharmaceutical factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy district.
The deceased labourers are Rajnala Jagan Mohan from Ganjam, Lagnajit Duari from Cuttack’s Tigiria, Manoj Raut from Balasore, Dolagobinda Sahu from Jajpur, and Chaitu Bhatra from Nabarangpur.
According to reports, three other Odia workers, Sameer Padhi from Ganjam, Chandan Kumar Naik from Bhadrak, and Neelambar Bhadra from Nabarangpur, sustained injuries in the blast. Sameer Padhi is currently in the ICU with 35% burn injuries but is out of danger, while Chandan and Neelamber are stable and being treated in the general ward.
The Odisha government had dispatched a two-member team to the site for a ground-level assessment after the mishap, which claimed 42 lives.
The state’s Labour and Family Welfare Department is closely monitoring the situation and providing necessary support to the affected individuals.
