Odisha CM Announces Salary Hike Of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the increase in monthly salary of 1.45 lakh Anganwadi workers and helpers with retrospective effect from October 1, 2018.

This big decision was taken at a high level meeting today at the State Secretariat here and later the Chief Minister made the announcement.

Making the announcement, the Chief Minister said, “Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) plays an important role in women and child welfare. Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and the helpers form the backbone of ICDS network. The State Government has always been pro-active in the cause of Anganwadi workers. Keeping the welfare of the Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and the Anganwadi helpers in view, the State Government has decided to announce the following package which will come into effect retrospectively from the 1st of October 2018.”

“As per the decision, the Anganwadi workers will now get Rs 7,500 per month against Rs 6,000 that they were getting. Mini Anganwadi workers will now get Rs 5,375 against Rs 4,125 that they were getting. Anganwadi helpers will now get Rs 3,750 per month against Rs 3,000,” he announced.

He added, “The age of disengagement is increased from 60 years to 62 years. At the time of exit at the age of 62 years, the Anganwadi workers, the Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers will be given a lump sum incentive of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively as measure of social security. They will also be entitled for a vacation of 15 days annually during peak summer.”

“Henceforth, 50% posts of Anganwadi Supervisors will be filled up from amongst Anganwadi workers. This decision will benefit 72,500 Anganwadi workers and an equal number of helpers,” the Odisha Chief Minister also announced.
