**Bhubaneswar:** While fans wait with bated breath to purchase the tickets for a mesmerising AR Rahman concert, a power-packed Shah Rukh Khan speech and an extravagant opening ceremony, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made many jealous by becoming the first lucky customer to buy the ticket of inaugural ceremony of Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup.
Naveen Patnaik paid Rs 500 for the first ticket at the State Secretariat at around 12 pm today. On the occasion, Elena Norman, CEO of Hockey India said, “We officially sold the first ticket to the Chief Minister for the opening ceremony. And just like him, everyone will have to purchase the tickets as there are no complimentary tickets or passes.”
“All the tickets will be available for purchase online tomorrow noon and there will be no sale at the counters. There are around 12.000 seats for Kalinga Stadium on November 27 and 30,000 seats for Barabati Stadium on November 28,” Norman added.
“While AR Rahman has confirmed his performance for both the dates, Shah Rukh Khan will be present only for the November 27 opening ceremony in Kalinga Stadium. Shah Rukh Khan will not be performing, he will be giving only a speech,” Norman explained.
With only 9 days until the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018, Hockey India announced yesterday that ticket sales will be going live for the opening ceremony on November 20.
“In view of public demand, the ticket sales for both the events will be live on http://ticketgenie.in/event/hwc-opening-ceremony from 20th November 2018 at 12:00 noon IST,” published Hockey India on its official website. Music Maestro A R Rahman and prominent Bollywood celebrities will perform at both the events, it added.
Hockey India further mentioned that the online redemption of the tickets for the opening ceremony will be from November 22, from 3 PM onwards, at Gate 4 of the Kalinga Athletics Stadium along with other locations throughout the city.
Fans can also choose redemption centres from multiple locations/counters in Cuttack while booking their tickets for the World Cup Celebrations event. The date for online redemption of the tickets for the World Cup Celebration event will be announced in due course, it added.
Hockey India reiterated that tickets can ONLY be purchased online at the given link of the ticket agency and will not be available for sale over the counter.
