Bhubaneswar: Ahead of his oath-taking ceremony, Odisha Chief Minister-designate Mohan Charan Majhi paid a courtesy visit to former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday.
Addressing the media after meeting Patnaik, Majhi said, “I had come to invite the former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to the swearing-in ceremony and seek his blessing. I requested Naveen Babu to attend the oath-taking ceremony today and bless the new government. He has given his consent to attend the oath-taking ceremony.”
According to sources, the oath-taking ceremony of Majhi is likely to be held 12 at 5 pm on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar at 2.30 pm on Wednesday and proceed to Raj Bhavan from the airport before attending the CM’s oath-taking ceremony.
Several dignitaries, including Union Ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Odisha Chief Minister.
Earlier on the day, Odisha Chief Minister-designate garlanded the statues of prominent figures of the state at different places in the capital city Bhubaneswar ahead of his swearing-in ceremony in the evening. Deputy Chief Minister-designates KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida and several other BJP leaders accompanied Majhi this morning.
