Bhubaneswar: Director General of Fire Services & Home Guards Sudhanshu Sarangi and Principal Secretary of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Bishnupada Sethi have rushed to Malkangiri to help the district administration and take stock of the situation arising out of the flood situation following incessant rains.
According to an official press release, Sarangi and Sethi are on their way to Malkangiri following instruction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Majhi, while returning from his two-day visit to Sambalpur, discussed with the Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari about the damage caused by heavy rains in Koraput and Malkangiri districts. Along with this, the Chief Minister also discussed about the precautionary measures taken for possible rainfall in the coastal areas under the influence of low pressure created in the Bay of Bengal.
Traffic has been disrupted in many parts of Koraput and Malkangari due to rainwater and local people have also been affected.
The Chief Minister asked the Revenue Minister to direct the District Collectors of the two districts, including the SRC, to take immediate steps to resolve the issue.
Along with this, the Chief Minister asked the District Magistrates to be on alert and prepared as there is a possibility of heavy rain in the coastal areas in the next 48 hours.
